Borussia Dortmund sack head coach Nuri Sarin after seven months

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the exit of Nurin Sahin from his role as the head coach of the Bundesliga club following a sequence of bad form across all competitions.

The club confirmed the exit of the Turkish international on its official X account on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. In a statement released by Borussia Dortmund, both parties decided to part ways after the defeat against Bologna in the UEFA Champions League.

The 2-1 victory was the first for the Serie A side since the beginning of this season's UEFA Champions League. Dortmund confirmed that Mike Tullberg will take over as coach against SV Werder Bremen next Saturday, January 25, 2025.

The 39-year-old has been BVB's U19 coach since 2020 and previously coached BVB’s U23s for a year.

Who will replace Nurin Sahin at Borussia Dortmund?

There are reports that former Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag is the top candidate to replace Sahin, with reports coming in from Germany that the board has reached out to the former Manchester United manager.

If they decide to bring in Ten Hag, then it would be easier for Dortmund to convince Marcus Rashford for a move to the Bundesliga.
